Exoscope Mechanical Design Engineer

Reports to: Senior VP of Operations

 

Job Location: Redwood City, CA

Job Summary:

Exo-Imaging is seeking a talented Mechanical Design Engineer to design an Exoscope prototype with experience in using rapid-prototype and quick turn fabrication processes, and subsequent system assembly process for consumer products.

 

Job Responsibilities (include but not limited to):

 

  • Design of die-cast metal and injection molded plastic parts for Exoscope prototype and production samples in SolidWorks design environment and integration of parts into system design

  • Interface with industrial design team on case shape to optimize functional and aesthetic performance relative to internal design constraints

  • Interface to prototype suppliers on specification, quotation, and delivery of prototype parts utilizing 3D, machining, and other prototype fabrication processes

  • Production tool development with suppliers and optimization of part designs for DFM and cost optimization

  • Prototype system mechanical testing and FEA of critical parts and systems assemblies for reliability  

  • Interface with electronics, thermal, and PCB design teams to optimize parts that integrate in overall system assembly and meet performance targets

  • FDA regulatory documentation and system qualification support

  • Assembly and production-part system specifications

  • Preparation of full production drawing sets, including tolerancing

  • Evaluation of first parts from production tools, and vendor collaboration to achieve design compliance.
     

Education/Experience Requirements:

 

  • B.S./M.S. mechanical engineering with 5 years of professional experience

  • Experience in medical device product develop and FDA development

  • SolidWorks expertise and proven ability to develop integrated mechanical systems designs

  • Experience using rapid-prototype and quick turn fabrication processes, and subsequent system assembly process for consumer products

  • Production tool development for cast metal or plastic injection molding, materials and finish selection, and product specification experience

  • Experience in high pace dynamic engineering environments and the ability to integrate into diverse teams quickly

 

Additional Considerations:

 

  • Job may require up to 10% international travel

  • Must be a U.S. citizen or have permanent resident status
